Discover Flinders Island, Tasmania.
Flinders Island is the ideal holiday destination. Whether you are an independent traveller, adventurous couple or active family, Flinders Island provides a unique experience as relaxing or as stimulating as you wish to make it.
Flinders Island is the largest of 52 islands in the Furneaux Group in eastern Bass Strait and just a short flight from Victoria or Tasmania with airlines operating regular passenger travel or charter operators. A range of accommodation is available: self-contained cottages, luxury accommodation, hotel, cabin park or camping grounds.
Flinders Island is a lot larger than most expect – almost 90km long - and you'll need lots of time to explore. Whitemark is the largest centre with shops, cafes, service station, hotel, golf club and other facilities. Hire cars are available. Guided tours by bus or four wheel drive are an option and some visitors discover the island by mountain bike.
Your island experiences may include: scuba diving, beach combing, snorkelling, mountain climbing, fishing, golf, swimming, cycling, kayaking, bird watching, photography, bushwalking, fossicking for topaz, walking coastal tracks or exploring offshore islands.
Discovering the Furneaux Islands with an experienced charter boat operator enables visitors to plan a special experience that caters to their wishes, whether it be fishing for kingfish, exploring shipwrecks, diving for crayfish or abalone (licences required), or watching dolphins in the bow wave. On land you can visit the museum, vineyard, art gallery, wildlife sanctuary, historical sites, and national parks.
